SS17 Beauty Look – How to get the statement eye

This season is all about bright and vibrant colours – from clothes and accessories to makeup and hairstyles. Put your everyday black eyeliner away and forget about your “no makeup” look, we’re showing you here how to create a simple, statement eye makeup, as seen in our Spring Summer 17 Campaign.

1. Start by priming your eyelids to create a smooth even base. Avoid priming your eyes with concealer or foundation as they usually contain oils that will cause your makeup to slip off and crease (which is exactly what you DON’T want). Opt instead for an oil-free eye primer such as the Bareminerals Prime Time Eyelid Primer.

2. Draw a green stroke on the complete rim of your eyelids, as close to your upper lash line as possible. For an on-trend contemporary feel, pick an intense matte colour as opposed to a shiny or metallic hue. The Landscape Green Mac Chromacake is perfect to achieve that highly pigmented green shade with an opaque matte finish. To keep control of what you’re doing and create a flawless line, use a high precision tool like the Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush.

3. Draw a second stroke just above the crease of the eyelid in a deep ocean blue colour, like the Marine Ultra Mac Chromacake. Start from the inner side of the crease and go all the way to the outer side. To create more depth, make sure that the blue eye line is thinner than the green one.

4. Finish off with a layer (or two!) of mascara to separate and curl your lashes. The trick to longer lashes? Wiggle the brush back and forth at the base of your lashes so that the coat of mascara is thicker on the roots than on the ends. To avoid it smearing throughout the day, pick a mascara with a long-wearing formula, such as the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara.

Pro tip: Have fun and experiment with colours but don’t go overboard! Let your eyes do the talking and keep the rest of your makeup minimal.
