MARCS ICON: JOHN MACARTHUR

John Macarthur started selling his knits at Paddington markets and has built a reputation for his unique and colourful knitwear. A personal friend to MARCS founder, Mark Keighery, John walked in his 1996 Australian fashion week presentation for MARCS, much to the delight of Australia’s fashion faithful. The MARCS x John Macarthur collaboration combines the worlds of MARCS and Macarthur into a 160 piece handmade 100% Australian Merino Wool collection that consists of one-of-a-kind knits that celebrates MAX INDIVIDUALITY, MAX COLOUR AND MAX STYLE.

John Macarthur has an international reputation for his unique knitwear, which has graced the pages of the world’s leading fashion magazines including Vogue and Elle. Macarthur has dressed the likes of Cindy Crawford and Miranda Kerr. We’re so honoured that John came out of retirement to partner with us for this limited edition collaboration as a nod to his colourful friendship with Mark and long-lasting love for MARCS. Given MARCS’ history with John and our shared love of colour and collaboration, partnering with John was an easy decision and we’re eternally grateful for him picking up his knitting needles once more to create pieces for our 40th birthday that are just as individual and unique as he is.
